For Beginners and First-Time Musicians
Foundations Camp offers an exciting, hands-on introduction to the world of music for children aged 6-10. Designed for beginners and first-time musicians, this engaging camp allows students to explore a variety of instruments, including ukulele, drums, piano, and more, in a fun and supportive group setting.
What to Expect
Campers will enjoy a balanced blend of music education, outdoor activities, and creative expression. Throughout the week, students will prepare a group performance to showcase their newfound skills in a mini concert for parents on the final day.
In addition to playing instruments, students will participate in:
Musical games to develop rhythm and listening skills.
Outdoor activities like frisbee, musical tag, foursquare, and other fun group games.
Music appreciation sessions featuring educational videos and fun discussions about music production and history.
Schedule & Logistics
Time: 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Drop-off between 9:30-9:45 AM, activities begin at 9:45).
Each day is packed with engaging activities that ensure a dynamic and well-rounded camp experience.
A Sample Day at Foundations Camp
9:30-9:45 AM – Drop-Off & Warm-Up
Students arrive and ease into the day with free play inside. They’ll write their names on the whiteboard and enjoy a name music game to start the day.
9:45-10:15 AM – Morning Meeting & Music Grouping
Campers gather for a morning meeting and introductions. They’ll share which instruments they’re most excited to try and dive into a quick instrument introduction.
10:15-10:45 AM – Drumming Session
Campers explore hand drums and drum sets through fun activities like a "Follow the Leader" game before transitioning outdoors.
10:45-11:15 AM – Outdoor Group Games
Campers head outside to enjoy group activities like frisbee, foursquare, and musical tag, fostering teamwork and movement.
11:15-11:45 AM – Creative Projects & Small Groups
Campers create their own custom t-shirts, work on creating drum beats, and play memory games to sharpen their musical skills.
11:45 AM-12:15 PM – Lunch & Music Appreciation
Students enjoy their lunch while watching engaging music production videos that inspire creativity.
12:15-1:00 PM – Outdoor Walk & Musical Exploration
Campers take a group walk and engage in fun, structured outdoor activities like scavenger hunts or nature-inspired musical games.
1:00-2:00 PM – Instrument Exploration & Music Games
Campers rotate through instruments like ukulele, piano, and drums, building confidence as they learn and play in small groups.
2:00-2:30 PM – Wrap-Up Activities & Free Play
The day winds down with free play or creative group activities, giving students a chance to explore their favorite parts of the day.
2:30-3:00 PM – Pick-Up
Campers share their favorite moments from the day as parents arrive for pick-up.
