SONGWRITING & PRODUCTION LAB

A Four-Week Immersive Studio Experience at Peak

Ages 10–14 | No Experience Required | Limited to 4 Students | Jan 24- Feb 14

The Songwriting and Production Lab gives students the rare chance to write, record, and produce their own original music in a professional, high-energy setting. This isn't just a class, it’s a collaborative project where students step into the role of both artist and producer.

Guided by Music Director Pete, students will explore the mechanics of modern songwriting and the basics of professional recording. Working as a team, the group will create a single or short album that will be professionally mixed, mastered, and released on all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.).

The Experience

This is a focused, four-week program designed for students who want to experience the full creative process without the commitment of a full-season class. Students get hands-on experience with every stage of production:

The 4-Week Roadmap

  • Week 1: The Blueprint & The Hook – We start with a creative "brain dump" to find our theme. Students learn the fundamentals of modern songwriting as we build the song’s heartbeat and record a "scratch track."

  • Week 2: The Craft & Arrangement – With two instructors in the room, we split into "writing pods" to finish lyrics and layer instruments. Students learn how to arrange parts to make a song feel professional and dynamic.

  • Week 3: The Red Light (Tracking) – The "Big Day." One instructor runs the engineering board while the other acts as the vocal producer. Students learn studio etiquette and the "psychology" of a great performance behind the pro mics.

  • Week 4: Ear Candy & The Premiere – We add final layers like harmonies and effects. The session concludes with a Final Listening Party, where families are invited into the studio to hear the completed tracks on our pro monitors.
